Dutch Spark Report: 'Market Analysis of E-Cooking Solutions'
Published: Dec 22, 2025
The study, ‘Market Analysis of E-Cooking Solutions’, was commissioned by the Dutch Spark for Clean Cooking Solutions, a network of Dutch organisations working to accelerate the clean cooking transition, and carried out by FOUNT CIC. The study explores the potential of e-cooking in emerging markets by examining market opportunities, key barriers and business models. It also considers how e-cooking can complement other clean cooking solutions in diverse local contexts.
The global clean cooking market is diverse, encompassing technologies ranging from traditional improved biomass stoves to modern electric cooking appliances. Although e-cooking solutions, including electric pressure cookers (EPCs) and induction stoves, currently represent a small market share, this is growing rapidly due to the increasing availability of electricity through grids, mini-grids and off-grid solar systems. E-cooking is emerging as a viable alternative, particularly in urban and peri-urban areas where electricity is reliable.
The study provides valuable insights that guide Dutch Spark and its network of stakeholders, including policymakers, financiers, and development organisations, in developing effective strategies to accelerate the adoption of clean cooking technologies and achieve impactful energy transitions.
